She is the Goddess of the Moon for the Aztecs. The original 12 foot stone plaquard was found in Mexico City where it was discovered accidentally at the base of the stairs of El Templo Mayor by a ditch digger. Coyolxauhqui is usually depicted dismembered. The myth says that her new born and fully armored warrior son beheaded and dismembered her. She is shown here 3" across and roughly 1/8" thick.
